AFL NOTES: The Dallas Desperados were looking to add a lineman with a proven professional resume when they signed Albert Reese. Although Reese has only one season of indoor experience, he brings six years of NFL and Canadian Football League experience to Dallas. Reese was placed on Dallas's Reserve/Exempt list Jan. 3.
AFL 2003: Reese signed with the Grand Rapids Rampage on Jan. 7 and finished his rookie AFL season with 15.5 tackles, two sacks and three hurries. In his AFL debut at Buffalo (2/1), Reese played, but did not record any stats. He posted his first AFL tackle at Colorado (2/7) before picking up an assisted sack against Carolina (2/28). He tallied three tackles at Georgia (3/9), one at Dallas (3/16) and one at Los Angeles (3/23). Reese recorded a career-high 3.5 tackles and one sack against Chicago (3/29). He added one tackle - including an assisted sack - against Las Vegas (4/13). Reese added a single tackle at Chicago (4/27) and at San Jose (5/3) before posting three tackles against Indiana (5/11).
OTHER PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: 2002 - In his third season with the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League, Reese posted 31 tackles, three tackles for losses and nine sacks. He added a tackle and a sack in postseason action. 2001 - In 18 games with Edmonton, Reese notched 36 tackles, two tackles for losses and a sack. He added one sack in the playoffs. 2000 - Reese signed with Edmonton and finished his first CFL season with 37 tackles - three for losses - and three sacks. 1999 - Reese signed as a free agent with the NFL's Cleveland Browns but was released at the end of camp. 1998 - Reese went to camp with the San Francisco 49ers but was released at the final cut down date. 1997 - Reese re-signed with San Francisco, was released at the end of camp and re-signed to the club's practice squad. He signed to the 49ers active roster Nov. 5 and played in five games, recording three tackles and a pressure. He also added a stop in the NFC Divisional Playoff Game against Minnesota. 1996 - Reese signed with the 49ers as a rookie free agent. He was released at the end of training camp but was signed to San Francisco's practice squad, where he spent the entire season.
PERSONAL: Reese received all-state honors as a senior at Vigor High School in Mobile, Ala. As a sophomore, he was a key force on the defensive line in helping Vigor claim a state and national championship.
