The Desperados (7-2) four game win streak came to an end in dramatic fashion with a 55-51 loss to the Philadelphia Soul (5-4) as they returned home to American Airlines Center in front of a crowd of 13,931.

The Desperados wasted no time getting on the score board as Andrew Layton recovered the opening kickoff in the end zone for a touchdown. Philadelphia answered with a 13-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Tony Graziani to wide receiver Steve Smith on their first drive. Dallas scored on their first possession with a lob by quarterback Clint Dolezel to wide receiver Terrill Shaw in the end zone. The play gave Dallas a 14-7 lead. Philadelphia turned the ball over on downs with an incomplete pass to Steve Smith to end their second drive at the Dallas 24-yard line. Clint Dolezel threw his fourth pick of the season during Dallas' next possession. The ball was intercepted by defensive specialist Reggie Doster. The first quarter ended with Dallas leading 14-7.

The second quarter opened with Philadelphia's Graziani completing a 46-yard pass to wide receiver Mike Brown on Dallas' 1-yard line. Graziani connected with Steve Smith on fourth down in the end zone to tie the game 14-14. On the first play of their next possession, Dolezel completed a quick slant to Dialleo Burks for a 45-yard touchdown pass. Philadelphia tied the game 21-21 with a 2-yard run by wide receiver Sean Scott. Jason Shelley scored his first touchdown of the season with a 15-yard pass from Dolezel making the score 28-21. Dallas attempted an onside kick but Philadelphia recovered the ball on Dallas' 15-yard line. Fullback Wes Ours scored on a rush from the one-yard line. Todd France's point after attempt failed making the score 28-27. Dallas' Will Pettis scored on a 30-yard pass from Clint Dolezel before Mike Brown closed the gap, 35-34, with 4.8 seconds left in the half for the Soul. The half ended with a 53-yard Dallas field goal from Carlos Martinez giving Dallas a 38-34 lead.

Dallas turned the ball over on downs on their first possession of the third quarter. Dallas regained possession with an interception by Dialleo Burks with 5:15 left in the third quarter and capitalized on the turnover with a Pettis 16-yard touchdown off a Dolezel pass making the score 45-34. The third quarter ended with the score 45-34.

Chad Dukes scored on a 2-yard run with in the fourth quarter making the score 45-41. Sean Scott added another score off a Griziani pass giving Philadelphia the lead, 48-45. Dallas recovered a Philadelphia onside kick giving them the ball on the eight-yard line with under a minute remaining. A penalty from the previous Philadelphia score moved the ball to the four-yard line giving Dallas an easy score and a 51-48 lead off a Dolezell pass to Burks. Sean Scott caught his second touchdown for Philadelphia giving them a 55-51 lead with 21.8 seconds left in the game. Dallas moved down the field to the one-yard line leaving 5.3 seconds left on the clock. Dallas failed to convert the touchdown after getting a second chance on a defensive holding call against Philadelphia.

Ironman of the game went to Philadelphia's Steve Smith, who had eight catches for 98-yards, two touchdowns and three kickoff returns for forty-two yards. Mike Brown earned Offensive Player of the Game while defensive specialist Reggie Doster took home Defensive Player of the Game honors. The Dallas Desperados will take on the Columbus Destroyers at the AAC next Saturday night at 7 p.m., while the Philadelphia Soul will welcome the Austin Wranglers to town for a 7 p.m. Friday night match-up on March 31.
