AFL NOTES: Josh White, the Dallas Desperados all-time leading rusher (412 yards), continued his emergence as the team's rushing threat in 2007 after a season that saw him boast career-highs in rushing attempts (93) and yards (278), finishing as one of the top rushers in the AFL. Throughout his career, White has displayed the necessary skills of playing both sides of the ball, concluding each season as one of the top players at either position on offense or defense. The Dallas Desperados exercised their trade for considerations with Utah on Feb. 17, 2006 in order to acquire White after he was released from the Austin Wranglers.

AFL 2007 (Dallas): White finished as one of the top-three running backs in the league, ranking second in rushes (93) and third in yards (278) while averaging 3.0 yards-per-carry. White's rushing yards total set a single-season team record. He opened the season at New York (3/4) with eight rushes for 31 yards (3.9 avg.) and one touchdown. He caught his first receiving touchdown of his career against Tampa Bay (3/10) on a nine-yard touchdown strike while also adding 30 rushing yards on seven carries. At Kansas City (3/16) White was named Offensive Player of the Game scoring a season and career-best five rushing touchdowns to tie a then AFL single-game record while also rushing for a season-high 39 yards on a career-high and team record 13 carries and . At Orlando (3/26) he posted a 4.7 rushing yard average on seven carries for 33 yards while adding an eight-yard reception. White carried the ball four times for 28 yards - including a season-long rush of 22 yards - for a season-high 7.0 yard-per-rush average while also contributing a five-yard reception against Philadelphia (4/16). He totaled 26 yards on five rushes with one touchdown and added 2.5 tackles on defense against Nashville (4/27). White was named Offensive Player of the Game against Chicago (5/14) for the second time this season after posting seven rushes for 15 yards with two touchdowns. He ran eight times for 25 yards and one touchdown and added a six-yard reception and 1.5 tackles on defense and special teams at Columbus (5/26). White caught a four-yard touchdown pass against New Orleans (6/9). He had eight rushes for 11 yards (1.4 avg.) and two receptions for 24 yards, including a 13-yard touchdown reception against New York (6/16).

AFL 2006 (Austin/Dallas): White joined Dallas prior to the game against Las Vegas (2/25) and in 11 regular season games posted 23 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 1.5 tackles for losses, three fumble recoveries and one blocked field goal from his linebacker position. He added 37 carries for 134 yards and three touchdowns while catching two passes for 16 yards from fullback. Prior to arriving in Dallas, White saw action in two games for the Austin Wranglers and rushed five times for 12 yards and one touchdown and added two tackles, one sack and one tackle for a loss on defense before being released prior to the Wranglers game at Dallas (2/17). In his Desperados debut against Las Vegas (2/25), White had one tackle, one fumble recovery and three runs for seven yards. At Chicago (3/5) he finished with three carries for eight yards and a score and added 1.5 tackles on defense. At Tampa Bay (3/12) White rushed four times for eight yards and posted three tackles and a fumble recovery. He also had a sack for a 10-yard loss that resulted in a safety against the Storm. White rushed three times for seven yards and a four-yard touchdown scamper and added 1.5 tackles and his third fumble recovery of the season at Orlando (3/19). Against Philadelphia (3/35) he had one rush for no gain and one stop defensively, before rushing four times for 23 yards with one tackle against Columbus (4/1). At New York (4/9) he finished second on the team with three stops - including one for a loss. Against Grand Rapids (4/15) he led the team with six carries for 17 yards and had two tackles on defense and his first career blocked field goal - a 50-yard attempt. At Georgia (4/22) White rushed four times for 10 yards and added three tackles and a half sack. White was inactive the following week against Arizona (4/28) due to a family emergency. He returned to action at Philadelphia (5/6) and rushed two times for five yards and posted two tackles on defense. Against New York (5/12) he rushed five times for a season-high 36 yards and a touchdown, while also adding a reception for 12 yards and three tackles - including a sack - on defense. In the Divisional Playoff Game against Georgia (5/27) White rushed six times for 23 yards and a touchdown, caught one pass for an 11-yard score and had a sack, a forced fumble and a pass breakup on defense. In the Conference Championship Game against Orlando (6/4) he rushed two times for one yard and posted 2.5 tackles on defense.

AFL 2005 (New York): White returned to the New York Dragons for his second AFL season and started all 16 games, finishing fifth in the league in rushing with 180 yards and 12 touchdowns on 44 carries (4.1 avg.). He added seven receptions for 111 yards and two scores and posted 32.0 tackles, a pass breakup an interception and a blocked kick. In the season opener against Dallas (2/6), White rushed for seven yards and a touchdown on four carries and 2.5 tackles on defense. Against Nashville (2/19) he rushed five times for 17 yards and two scores, caught a pass for 13 yards and added 2.5 tackles before rushing once for nine yards and picking off a pass against Arizona (2/27). White rushed three times for nine yards and a score and notched a single-game career-high four tackles at Philadelphia (3/6). He had three runs for 19 yards and 2.5 tackles against Georgia (3/12) before rushing for eight yards on three carries, catching a pass for 26 yards at Austin (3/19). At Columbus (3/26) he posted eight yards on two carries and an assisted tackle then had two rushing touchdowns against Chicago (4/2). He had a career-long 28-yard catch for a touchdown and four assisted tackles at Los Angeles (4/10) before rushing eight times - single-game career-high - for 27 yards and two scores at Orlando (4/15). White added two more rushing touchdowns and 19 yards on five runs with 4.0 tackles against Philadelphia (4/24). At Dallas (4/29) White recorded another single-game career-best with 44 rushing yards and two touchdowns on four carries while catching one pass for 13 yards and adding a tackle on defense. He had a catch for a 26-yard touchdown, a rush for three yards and 2.0 tackles against Columbus (5/7) before rushing for three yards and adding 3.5 tackles against Colorado (5/21) in the season finale. In New York's lone playoff game, White rushed three times for one yard and assisted on two tackles against Orlando (5/29).

AFL 2004 (New York): White made his AFL and Dragons debut in Week Five against San Jose (3/7). In his first AFL outing, White posted two tackles, including a sack. He recorded his first career rush - for three yards - and added 3.5 tackles at Tampa Bay (3/14). Against Columbus (3/20) he rushed for his first career touchdown on two carries for eight yards. He had two tackles at Carolina (4/4) then added 3.5 at Columbus (4/10) before catching his first pass for three yards and adding two tackles against Colorado (4/8). At Philadelphia (4/24) he had three carries for six yards and a score and 3.0 tackles before rushing four times for eight yards and a touchdown at Dallas (5/2). White rushed for a season-long 31-yard touchdown against Carolina (5/8), then added two carries - both for touchdowns - a catch for a seven-yard score and 1.5 tackles against Los Angeles. He closed out the season against Philadelphia (5/30) with a two-yard touchdown run and 2.5 tackles.

OTHER PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: 2003 - In his second af2 season with the Hawaii Islanders, White became the first Islander to be named all three game awards (MVP, Ironman and Defensive player) after rushing for a career-high 52 yards and recording six tackles and two sacks in a single game. On the season, he had 63 runs for 302 yards (4.8 avg.) and 14 touchdowns. He had one catch for 33 yards and was fifth on the team with 27.0 tackles, including four for losses and two sacks. He added four pass breakups, four forced fumbles and a blocked kick. 2002 - In his first year of af2 action, White played in nine games for the Islanders and finished second on the team with 36 carries for 167 yards and four touchdowns. He added 9.5 tackles - one for a loss - three sacks and a forced fumble on defense.

COLLEGE: Through four years as a linebacker in college (three at Cal and one at Snow Junior College in Utah), White rushed for 339 yards and five touchdowns on 95 carries. As a sophomore transfer to Cal, White posted his best totals, rushing 51 times for 180 yards and three scores.

PERSONAL: White graduated from Farrington High School in Honolulu, Hawaii, where was an all-state running back who also played for the school's basketball team and participated in track and field. Through the 2006 season, White visited the West Lake Village Boys & Girls club as a part of the Desperados Impact Player Program - an annual outreach initiative that provides positive role models to at-risk youth served by the Boys & Girls Clubs system. He and his wife, Ginger, have two daughters, Imani and Tehani, and two sons Joshua James and Jeremiah.
